Netflix, now for the iPhone!

For movie and TV lovers, Netflix has one of the best deals available.  For as little as $8.99 a month you can rent DVD's off their website and have them mailed to you.  Also included is unlimited streaming of movies and TV shows from their online "Watch Instantly" catalog.

Netflix has been expanding their instant streaming options through their dedicated "Roku" TV box, Netflix streaming Blu-Ray players and TVs, Nintendo Wii, X-Box and PS3 options and now there is an app for that.  This week Netflix released their official iPhone streaming app.  You can now watch instantly on your iPhone and iPod Touch (version 3.1.3 and later).  The application is free and all you have to do is plug in your account info and you have access to all their streaming titles.

Trying out the app, it's still a little buggy/laggy, but the video quality is supprisingly good and works over Wi-Fi and 3G.  Keep in mind that streaming video uses a lot of data (for those on limited data plans, so stick to Wi-Fi if you have those) and the battery live of your device will drop quick unless you plug up.

Enjoy the hour of distractions...er entertainment!

  1. Thanks for the article Erik. Netflix app is great on iPhone. If live outside USA, you can use tools like UnoTelly to get Netflix on your iPhone.
